The Basilica School is grateful for all of our patrons. (This week) I would like to thank those who have recently made contributions to the school using the weekly offertory envelopes. It brings the students and staff great joy to know that so many of you support our mission through the gift of your time, talent and treasure year after year. At the beginning of the 2013-2014 academic year, the faculty and staff drafted the following new mission statement:
It is the mission of The Basilica School to provide children of the Lower Florida Keys an affordable, quality Catholic education in a Christ-centered learning environment. This mission aims to educate the whole person- spirit, mind and body and to foster ownership of each individual’s Catholic faith.
Your gifts of time, talent and treasure are what allow us to make this mission a success. Make sure to bring all three to our first ever Oktoberfest! Dust off your lederhosen and start practicing your chicken dance for the inaugural Southernmost Oktoberfest happening on Saturday October 5th from 6:00-9:00pm. The festivities will take place in the front circle of the school (700 Truman Ave) rain or shine. There will be traditional German food and drink and of course tests of strength contest. Prizes will be awarded in the mens’ and womens’ Masskrugstemmen competition and best German costume contest. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
