School orientation is Monday, August 19th. Classes begin on Tuesday, August 20th. Our first school Mass will be on Friday, August 23rd at 8:10am. You are invited to join your child for Mass each Friday at that time. Here are a few reminders as we prepare to begin our new school year:
-If you have not already registered your student, please do so immediately.
-Have you registered for Beyond the Bell? If not, forms can be printed from our webpage or picked up in the front office.-
-Students who have not been picked up by 3:00pm will be sent to Beyond the Bell. Students who remain at Beyond the Bell past 3:15pm will be charged accordingly.
-Purchase your lunch cards from Mrs. Cindy. Lunch menus will go home with each student on Monday, August 19th. The school lunch program will commence on Friday August 23rd. Until then, please prepare a lunch for your child to bring with them to school.
-Parents, please do not park in the front parking lot of the school. The roundabout is for dropping off only.
– The back gates will be locked at 8:00am. Students will need to be dropped off at the front office after 8:00am.
-We would like to bring back an old tradition termed “Mondays by Mary.” We will convene at 7:50am each Monday morning in the school’s courtyard surrounding the fountain and statue of Our Lady. As a community, we will welcome the week together in prayer for our students and school community. Prayer will conclude around at 7:55am at which time students will begin reporting to class.
-In order to volunteer, all parents/guardians must complete requirements established by the Archdiocese of Miami for the safety of all children. The requirements include completing a Level II FDLE background check as well as complete the VIRTUS training. For more information, contact the front office at 305-294-1031.
-We will follow the Monroe County School District hurricane and storm closing schedules. If Monroe County Schools are closed, the Basilica School will also be closed. Please monitor the internet, our webpage and local radio and television stations for announcements concerning school closings.
-The first PTO meeting of the year will be held in the Parish Hall on August 29th at 5:30pm.
