Basilica School children kicked off the Jubilee Year of Mercy this week at the mass of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday, Dec. 8th. Pope Francis invites us to think about mercy anew as the “act by which God comes to meet us.” He invites us to live by this mercy in our own lives, to forgive others as well as to seek reconciliation. He challenges us to understand mercy and justice as “two dimensions of the same reality” on the way of conversion of the sinner towards love. The Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea is a designated pilgrimage site in the Archdiocese of Miami during this Jubilee year which ends Nov. 20, 2016.
